FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q - How long does it take to do a pattern?

A - How long does it take to build a road? This question is frequently asked by people who do not understand the creative garment process. This really does depend on many factors. A simple t-shirt is very different to a couture gown. It's an incredibly difficult question to answer without having full knowledge of exactly what's involved.

Q - How many patterns can you do in a day?

A - Please see the answer above.

Q - Will a tailor/seamstress be required along side a couture pattern cutter?

A - Working for numerous companies in the middle east I have found that the quality of the seamstress/machinist work is not up to London luxury standards. Companies expect their finish to be luxury when they are working at a very low level. I work extensively with a very high quality seamstress and machinist who can add a lot of value when trying to create a high quality finish. I encourage you to also consider a luxury machinist.

Q - How can I increase the finish of my garments.

A - Competing in luxury is a completely different proposition to high street and mass market. The technical process is vast and cannot be short cut. Too often I see companies expecting results without operating the correct process and procedures. I can assist in teaching you the full luxury journey.

Q - What else can you assist us with?

A - Due to my experience I have a detailed understanding about how to create luxury clothes. I am a creative pattern cutter, I have an understanding about production/gerber/product development, however these are not by core strengths. Companies often expect one person to be able to fulfil multiple roles. This is not what happens in London, each role is filled by an expert in that specific discipline.

I am here to help you in your quest to become a recognised luxury brand. You have to understand that a correctly set up studio with the correct systems, processes and equipment is vital if you wish to compete with the best.
